In the ‘Leaders’ category of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2024, four prominent individuals have been featured: Yulia Navalnaya, Ajay Banga, Jigar Shah, and Georgia Meloni. Meanwhile, Ajay Banga has made history by becoming the first person of color to lead either of the world’s major financial institutions – the World Bank.

Jigar Shah is another Indian-American on the list who holds the position of director in the US Department of Energy Loan Programs Office. He oversees the allocation of hundreds of billions of dollars in public funds towards clean infrastructure and energy initiatives. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni is also included in this category. She rose to power in 2022 and became Italy’s first female leader despite initial apprehensions about her far-right party.

Lastly, Narges Mohammadi won the Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless advocacy for human rights in Iran despite frequent incarceration over the past twenty years. Despite her ongoing detention in Tehran’s Evin prison, she continues to fight for justice and human rights in Iran.
