As technology becomes more widespread, TikTok plans to start categorizing AI-generated content

TikTok has recently announced that it will be automatically labeling content created using artificial intelligence when uploaded from specific platforms. This move is aimed at combating the spread of misinformation on the popular social media platform.

The decision to label AI-generated content was made in an effort to provide transparency to TikTok users. By clearly identifying content created by artificial intelligence, users can better distinguish between factual information and potentially misleading or inaccurate content. This is especially important as AI-generated content can be difficult to differentiate from human-created content.

During an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America”, Adam Presser, TikTok’s Head of Operations & Trust and Safety, expressed that the platform’s users and creators are excited about the possibilities that AI presents for creativity and audience engagement. However, TikTok wants to ensure that individuals are able to differentiate between real and fabricated content. This is why they have implemented automatic labeling for AI-created content.

In the past, TikTok has encouraged users to label content that has been generated or heavily edited by AI. The platform also mandates that all AI-generated content containing realistic images, audio, and video be labeled as such. By implementing automatic labeling for AI-created content, TikTok is taking a proactive approach to promoting transparency and trust within its community. This will help users make more informed decisions about the content they consume and engage with on the platform.
