Victoria Hernandez, WFMS Science Teacher, announced as finalist in Teacher Appreciation Week Contest by TFCU

Teachers Federal Credit Union is hosting its 4th Annual Teacher Appreciation Week Contest to celebrate the hard work and dedication of educators across the country. One such outstanding educator is Ms. Victoria Hernandez, a sixth-grade general education and ENL science teacher at William Floyd Middle School, who has been selected as one of the top six middle school level finalists out of 1,500 candidates.

Ms. Hernandez embodies the highest standards of teaching excellence and leadership in her field. She serves as the driving force behind her school’s Science Fiction Club, providing students with an outlet for their love of genre while also fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a sense of community among its members. In addition to her work with the Science Fiction Club, Ms. Hernandez actively engages in professional development opportunities, constantly seeking ways to enhance her teaching methods and stay updated on educational trends.

As a finalist in the Teachers Federal Credit Union “Teacher Appreciation Week Contest,” Ms. Hernandez has the opportunity to win a grant up to $2,500 for her classroom. She plans to use this grant to build an interactive vertical garden using coding and technology as part of a project that will not only provide students with hands-on learning experiences but also teach them about sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Voting ends at Friday night, April 26 and one vote is allowed per email address so be sure to click here to cast your vote! The winners will be announced on Monday, May 6th as part of Teacher Appreciation Week when we recognize these outstanding educators for their hard work and dedication in making a difference in our communities every day!
