Ott selected as a member of Team Canada’s World Championship coaching staff

Hockey Canada has announced that Steve Ott, who currently serves as an Assistant Coach for the Blues, will be joining the coaching staff for Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. The tournament will be held in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia from May 10th to May 26th.

Ott, a native of Summerside, PEI, is making his international coaching debut with this upcoming championship. In his career as an assistant coach with the Blues, he has been instrumental in helping the team achieve four playoff appearances and secure their Stanley Cup victory in 2019. He also had a successful NHL playing career that spanned multiple teams including the Blues, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens.

With his extensive experience both on and off the ice, Ott brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Team Canada. His successes on the international stage include winning bronze at the 2001 IIHF World Junior Championship and silver at the 2002 tournament. He also represented Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Championship. As part of this talented coaching staff, Ott is sure to make a valuable contribution to Team Canada’s success at the upcoming championship.
