Local Business Owners Looking Forward to Increased Visitors During RNC Convention Fest

With the Republican National Convention just three months away, preparations are in full swing. One of the focuses is to highlight the unique and special businesses that make Milwaukee stand out. Entrepreneurs like Karla Martinez are eager to take advantage of this opportunity.

Karla Martinez, along with her husband Cristian, runs Birrieria La Tia Juana, a food truck located on Milwaukee’s Southside. The food truck serves traditional Mexican dishes in the area of 39th and Burnham. Karla expressed her excitement about being part of the event, stating that it is a great chance for small businesses like theirs to shine.

For over a year, Karla and Cristian have been trying to get more involved in events and reach a wider audience. They struggled to find the right platform until Convention Fest came along. This event, held outside the Baird Center, will feature over 100 vendors showcasing their work during the four-day event, just steps away from the RNC venue.

Both the Host Committee and the RNC emphasize that Convention Fest aims to provide a true representation of what Milwaukee has to offer. It is an inclusive event open to all, regardless of political affiliations. Karla eagerly applied to be a part of Convention Fest, hoping that it will give her business a significant boost.

Applications for Convention Fest are due by May 22nd, and those interested in participating can find more information on it online. The event is seen as a new and exciting opportunity for small businesses like Birrieria La Tia Juana to connect with a broader audience and showcase what they have to offer.
