GPAC celebrates eight Jimmies baseball players – Jamestown Sun

In 2021, eight standout players from the University of Jamestown baseball team were awarded GPAC All-Conference accolades. The first team included Alex Alva, Avery Liestman, and Ethan Petty. Meanwhile, Chase Burke, Cade Torgerson, and Jordan Singleton made the second team. Torgerson received additional recognition as an All-Conference gold glover.

Each of these players played a vital role in the team’s success this season. Alva had a strong batting average of .330 and hit five home runs with 37 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Liestman impressed in his first season with a 7-1 record and a 2.38 ERA, striking out 46 batters. Petty pitched in 23 games with a 1-1 record, boasting a remarkable .42 ERA and 36 strikeouts.

Torgerson had an impressive track record of winning seven games in just 16 appearances, including one save, with a solid ERA of 2.91 and an outstanding fielding percentage of 100%. Burke hit .323 with four home runs, three triples, and 26 RBIs while also stealing away bases on his way to the plate at an impressive rate of one per game (27). Singleton’s batting average was also noteworthy at .333 as he hit eight home runs and drove in another thirty-eight runners throughout the season.

Nelson contributed significantly to the team’s offense by hitting .325 with eight doubles and twenty-five RBIs. Radkey went four for one on the mound while maintaining a consistent ERA of 3.86
