The Second Leading Cause of Blindness: Vitreoretinal Disease

The retina and vitreous humor are crucial components of the human eye. The retina is a thin, transparent, light-sensitive structure located at the back of the eye, while the vitreous humor fills the center of the eye and is its largest structure internally. Damage to these structures can lead to blindness following cataracts.

Prof. Dr. Do Nhu Hon, Chairman of the Vietnam Vitreoretinal Association, shared this information at a scientific conference on new trends in vitreoretinal surgery and ocular reconstructive surgery.
