The groundbreaking eVTOL battery with super fast charging technology

EHang, a leading Chinese flying vehicle company, has teamed up with Guangzhou Greater Bay Technology (GBT) to develop Ultra Fast Charging (UFC) and Extreme Fast Charging (XFC) battery solutions for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL). This collaboration aims to reduce charging times and establish a strong foundation for efficient, large-scale commercial operations in the low-range economy.

The partnership between EHang and GBT will focus on developing battery solutions that meet the high standards set by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), including high energy density, high cycle life, high instantaneous charge-discharge rates, and high safety. The new UFC/XFC battery will be designed to charge from 30% to 80% in just 5 – 10 minutes, greatly improving the performance prospects for flying vehicles like EHang’s EH216-S flying taxi.

In addition to developing battery solutions, EHang and GBT plan to build fast charging stations and other infrastructure to support future commercial activities involving eVTOL. This collaboration represents a significant step towards mass production and commercial operation of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, positioning EHang as a key player in the industry.

Overall, this collaboration between EHang and GBT demonstrates a commitment to advancing the field of personal mobility and establishing a sustainable ecosystem for commercial operations in the future.
