Transition Council of Haiti Names New President amid Chaos

After the resignation of the contested Prime Minister of Haiti, a new transition council was established to help restore public order in a country struggling with gang violence. During an official television broadcast, politician Edgard Leblanc Fils was appointed as the president of this council. He will play a coordinating role within the body to address the challenges facing the nation.

During the same ceremony, the majority of council members suggested Fritz Bélizaire as the Prime Minister. Frinel Joseph, a non-voting member of the council, promised to provide further details on this proposal at a later time. The decision to appoint a new president came after successful negotiations and agreements between different stakeholders, rather than through an internal election as previously planned.

Despite initial complications and changes in plans, the council is now operational due to successful negotiations and agreements between different stakeholders. It took several weeks of discussions and negotiations to establish the council due to disagreements among political parties, stakeholders, and the outgoing government. Now, with a new leadership structure in place, the council aims to address urgent issues facing Haiti and work towards stability and progress.
