WhatsApp introduces new feature allowing users to customize photo backgrounds and styles using generative AI

Meta has been at the forefront of AI technology in recent months, with the development of new tools such as the Meta AI chatbot and Expressive Media Universe (EMU), which allows users to create stickers from text. WhatsApp is following suit by incorporating two new image editing tools based on generative AI into its platform. The first tool, Restyle, applies visual styles based on user descriptions, while Backdrop enables users to modify their backgrounds based on their instructions. These features are expected to be available soon on both Android and iOS devices.

In addition to these new features, WhatsApp has also introduced a new button in its photo sending interface for Android users. This button offers options such as cropping, rotating photos, adding stickers and text, using the drawing tool, and more. The latest version of WhatsApp for Android also includes options for sending photo quality and enlarging images, giving users greater control over their photos.

These updates reflect a growing trend towards more advanced image editing capabilities in messaging apps. As AI technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative features emerge in the future.
