NCAA Has Approved Technology Rules for 2024

Next season, college football will undergo significant changes with the approval of new rules by the NCAA. These changes are aimed at enhancing the on-field product and making the game more closely resemble the NFL.

One of the key changes is the introduction of a green dot on the back of a single player’s helmet, allowing them to communicate with a coach while on the field. This move brings college football closer to the NFL in terms of in-game communication. Additionally, college games will include a two-minute timeout similar to the NFL’s two-minute warning, which will stop at the two-minute mark of the second and fourth quarters, allowing for strategic decisions and game management.

Other changes include the use of tablets on the sidelines for reviewing game film and different camera angles. Penalties for horse-collar tackles in the tackle box will now result in a 15-yard penalty, and coaches will have the opportunity to be interviewed by broadcast partners after
