Job opportunities are booming in the Northern regions.

The Autonomous Province of Bolzano and Veneto are among the top-performing regions in Italy, closely followed by the Autonomous Province of Trento, Piedmont, and Valle d’Aosta. However, Southern Italy struggled to keep up, with the exception of Sardinia. Regions such as Sicily, Calabria, and Basilicata ended up at the bottom of the ranking.

The analysis was carried out by the CGIA Research Office based on the BES (Sustainable Fair Wellbeing) report presented by Istat. The job market has undergone significant changes since the pandemic. Companies across the country are facing challenges in finding candidates with adequate skills and have been forced to focus more on retaining their employees. This has led to positive actions such as higher salaries, converting fixed-term contracts to permanent ones, offering flexible working hours, using innovative professional tools, promoting career advancement opportunities and providing corporate benefits.

In North Italy, particularly in SMEs, there has been an ongoing process to improve corporate wellbeing for several years. Despite this trend of employees leaving permanent jobs is increasing rapidly while demand remains low due to a supply of labor that is increasing rapidly. This presents a high risk for companies to lose their top employees to competitors. According to INPS voluntary resignations of private permanent employees under 60 years old have increased significantly with many opting for better salary offers and less stressful working environments elsewhere.

It is important for companies to be attentive to these trends and work towards creating a positive and competitive work environment in order to retain their valuable employees
