Bills Add Two Defensive Tackles to Roster

On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills bolstered their defense by signing two defensive tackles to one-year deals. The newest additions to the team are DeShawn Williams and Austin Johnson.

Williams, a 31-year-old veteran, had a standout season in 2023 with 33 total tackles, seven quarterback hits, and a sack. Before joining the Bills, he played for the Carolina Panthers and spent three seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he recorded 4.5 sacks as a defensive end in 2022. Williams began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015 and played in four games during the 2016 season.

In contrast, Johnson was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2016. Last season, he started 17 games for the Los Angeles Chargers and finished with 46 total tackles and a forced fumble. This will be Johnson’s second season in L.A., and he will now be joining forces with former teammate DaQuan Jones, who also played for the Titans.

The signings of Williams and Johnson provide depth to the Buffalo Bills’ defensive line and bring experience to the team. Both players are eager to make an impact and help the Bills improve on defense for the upcoming season.
