Butte College’s New Science Building is One Step Closer to Completion

Butte College has just completed the construction of its new 72,276-square-foot science building. The final beam was placed in Butte Valley on Wednesday, marking an important milestone in the construction process. The campus community gathered at the construction site to sign the final beam and celebrate this achievement.

The project began in April 2023 and is expected to open in fall 2025. The new building will offer classes in various disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, construction management, nursing, allied health, and general education in the sciences. This state-of-the-art facility is funded by Measure J, a $190 million bond measure approved by voters in November 2016 as well as the state’s Physical Plant and Instructional Support Block Grant.

The addition of this new science building is an exciting development for Butte College and will significantly enhance the educational experience for students in STEM and healthcare fields. The building will provide cutting-edge resources and technology for students to further their education and research in a wide range of fields. It will also serve as a hub for collaboration and innovation with its modern amenities and advanced technology. This cornerstone of academic excellence at Butte College is poised to become a vital part of the educational landscape for years to come.
