Miba’s growth driven by wind power and e-mobility

Miba, an Austrian industrial company, is known for producing cutting-edge technology used in wind turbine gears, rotors, and electric vehicle components. The company experienced remarkable growth last year with sales increasing by 8.1% to 1.205 billion euros. This growth was driven by two key sectors: industrial goods and automotive business, with the latter accounting for 40% of the total revenue.

In the wind energy sector, Miba has seen tremendous success in recent years, with sales tripling over the past two years. The company’s innovative solutions like plain bearings for gears and friction pads for brakes have been instrumental in this growth. These components are installed in towers that can generate electricity for up to 80,000 households, making a significant impact on the environment.

Miba has also been successful in the e-mobility sector, with sales of components such as battery systems and pulse inverters tripling over the past two years. Despite challenges such as rising labor costs and concerns about Austria’s competitiveness as a manufacturing location, Miba remains committed to its global presence. The company has 29 locations across Europe, Asia, and North and South America and employs over 7,600 people worldwide. In Austria alone, Miba employs nearly 3,000 workers and plans further growth and investment in the coming years.

Despite not disclosing its profitability for several years, CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer remains optimistic about the company’s future prospects. He is confident that Miba will continue to grow despite fluctuations in the electric car market. To achieve this goal, he is investing heavily in production facilities with plans to expand operations in Mexico, China
