Dave McCarty, Former Boston Red Sox Player and World Series Champion, Passes Away at 54 Following ‘Cardiac Event’ in California

In California, former Boston Red Sox player and 2004 World Series winner Dave McCarty has passed away at the age of 54 after suffering a ‘cardiac event’. McCarty played three seasons with the Red Sox and was part of the curse-breaking 2004 World Series championship team. He is survived by his wife, Monica, and their children, Reid and Maxine.

During his 11-year MLB career, McCarty played for seven teams before spending his final three seasons with the Red Sox. He was a first baseman and outfielder who played 630 games in his career. Some of the teams he represented included the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Oakland Athletics. After retiring from baseball, McCarty worked as a Red Sox TV analyst for New England Sports Network.

His former teammate, Lenny DiNardo, paid tribute to McCarty on social media, calling him a great guy and expressing his sadness at the news. The baseball community is mourning the loss of this beloved player who made significant contributions to his teams during his time playing.
