Glenwood South restaurant closes doors after two decades of operation

Raleigh has lost another longtime business as Armadillo Grill on Glenwood Avenue closed its doors after 22 years in operation. The owners made the announcement on social media, stating that changes in the restaurant industry and rising costs of doing business led them to believe that the location no longer served their customer base.

Despite the closure of the Glenwood Avenue location, Armadillo Grill’s flagship location in Carrboro will remain open. The owners have expressed their intention to find a better location to serve the Raleigh community and assured customers that they would continue to offer catering services in Raleigh.

This closure joins a growing list of longtime downtown Raleigh businesses that have recently announced closures, including Capital Club 16 and Clouds Brewing. These closures highlight the challenges that businesses face in the ever-evolving restaurant industry. However, Armadillo Grill’s flagship location in Carrboro will continue to serve customers and offer catering services in Raleigh. Copyright 2024 by Capitol Broadcasting Company. All rights reserved.
