Chief of Israeli Army Intelligence steps down due to his involvement in Hamas attacks

The Israeli Army’s Intelligence services head, Aharon Haliva, has announced his resignation following the events of October 7. He cited his responsibility for the attacks carried out by Hamas, which resulted in numerous casualties and abductions. Haliva has called for an investigation to examine the security failures surrounding the attacks.

In his resignation letter, Haliva admitted that the Intelligence Division was not adequately equipped for the task at hand and acknowledged the weight of the responsibility entrusted to him. He urged Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to establish a state committee to thoroughly investigate the events that led to the attacks.

The decision to resign has been approved by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Haliva will continue in his role until a replacement is appointed in an orderly manner. The Israeli Army praised Haliva’s dedication during his 38 years of service and his contributions to national security.
