Government of Israel approves 19 billion shekels for reconstruction plan in Western Negev

The Israeli government has recently approved a program that will allocate 19 billion shekels over the next five years for the restoration and development of settlements on the border with Gaza Strip. Another 18 billion shekels will be allocated for the same purposes over the following five years. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that this investment will focus on housing, infrastructure, education, employment, medicine, and more, with the aim of developing the area and defending the country from threats like Hamas.

The government’s plan aims to transform the region into a hub for science and sports by expanding institutions like Sapir College and the southern “Wingate Institute.” Advanced agriculture using cutting-edge technologies will also be developed in the area, along with efforts to attract new residents and promote harmonious growth. The program was developed in collaboration with local authorities and will involve them in its implementation, focusing on housing construction, infrastructure development, economic growth, tourism, and increased security measures.

The government also plans to prioritize the expansion of employment opportunities and enhance personal and state security in the region. This aim is to create a thriving community by focusing on multiple aspects of development, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for the border settlements near Gaza.
