Indian Teams Fail to Secure Quotas on Opening Day of Paris 2024

At the Thomas A Robinson Stadium, the Indian men’s 4x400m relay team of Rajesh Ramesh, Rupal, Avinash Krishna Kumar, and Jyothika Sri Dandi made history as the first Indian team to take to the tracks. However, they could only manage a sixth-place finish in heat 2 with a timing of 3:20.36.

In heat 4 of the event, India’s men’s relay team of Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Rajesh Ramesh, Muhammad Ajmal, and Amoj Jacob faced tough competition. Despite Anas running a 45.93 in the opening split, which was the second-best among teams in the heat, Ramesh unfortunately had to withdraw from the race due to an injury.

The women’s 4x400m relay quartet of Vithya Ramraj, MR Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Subha Venkatesan clocked 3:29.74 to finish fifth in heat 1 on Sunday. Although they missed out on an Olympic quota for Paris 2024 at World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24 on Sunday
