Harvey Weinstein rushed to New York hospital with severe health issues

Harvey Weinstein is currently admitted to a hospital in New York due to various health issues, according to his lawyer Arthur Aidala. He is being examined at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where he is reportedly in good spirits and satisfied with the medical attention he is receiving after his release from prison. Despite the circumstances, Weinstein’s lawyer has stated that he has heart ailments, diabetes, sleep apnea, and eye problems among other issues.

In response to the 16-year prison sentence imposed by a Los Angeles judge, Weinstein’s representative Juda Engelmayer argued that it was cruel given his age and health condition, as he may not be able to serve it. However, this conviction was later overturned by an appeals court in New York, leading to another trial for Weinstein in the city. Despite the developments, a spokesperson for the New York Department of Corrections confirmed that Weinstein is still in custody at Bellevue.

The ‘Me Too’ movement against Harvey Weinstein gained traction in 2017 as a platform for individuals to speak out against incidents of sexual assault and harassment, particularly in work settings. Prominent figures like Alyssa Milano, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan, and Ashley Judd were among the first to publicly accuse Weinstein of misconduct, sparking the movement and shedding light on the prevalence of such behavior.
