Michelle Yeoh to collaborate with prominent business and political figures at Global Citizen NOW summit to combat poverty.

The Global Citizen NOW summit, convening in New York on May 1 and 2, will bring together a diverse group of political, business, and philanthropic leaders to address the pressing issues of food insecurity, climate change, and public health associated with extreme poverty. Among the attendees will be Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg.

The summit aims to inspire workable solutions to end extreme poverty by emphasizing the urgency of action. Global Citizen’s CEO Hugh Evans reiterated this sentiment, stating that “the world is at a critical juncture on various issues.” In addition to these leaders, actors Hugh Jackman, Danai Gurira, and Dakota Johnson will also participate in the event.

The focus of the summit will be on defeating preventable diseases like malaria, polio, and HPV as well as announcing new initiatives to preserve the Amazon Rainforest and increase investments in Africa through the World Bank. The organization aims to inspire and support the next generation of advocates through the Global Citizen Prize awards. These awards highlight exceptional young people making extraordinary efforts to change the world and provide financial assistance for their projects.
