A group of 30 students from Pioneer Valley High School’s Business Technology Department recently took a field trip to the California Science Center in Los Angeles on April 11. During their visit, the students explored various sections of the museum, including Air and Space Travel, Life and Biology, and Ecosystems. The common theme throughout the exhibits was how technology impacts the world through human inventions and innovations.
The students were able to gain hands-on experience by engaging with interactive exhibits at the museum. This allowed them to envision their future educational aspirations and potential career paths. Additionally, they were treated to a 3-D IMAX movie titled “Cities of the Future” in the center’s theater, which explored how science and technology are shaping cities globally.
Many students shared positive feedback about their experience at the museum. Student Modesto Lopez was particularly impressed by seeing aircraft hanging from the roof and expressed a desire to return in the future. Student Andrea Cruz Marin enjoyed touching starfish in the fish tank, while student Alexander Valentin found both the IMAX movie and being in Los Angeles enjoyable experiences. Derek Ferate appreciated interacting with different peers and exploring attractions such as high-tech IMAX movie and petting starfish.
Overall, student Abel Rodriguez described his experience as a “10 out of 10,” highlighting how it positively impacted his peers. The visit to the California Science Center not only enriched their understanding of various scientific concepts but also allowed them to bond with their peers and enjoy a fun and educational outing.
