Students from LAPS Shine at New Mexico State Science And Engineering Fair – Los Alamos Reporter

Students from Los Alamos Public Schools excelled at the 2024 New Mexico State Science and Engineering Fair, held at New Mexico Tech in Socorro. A total of 19 students from the school district showcased their scientific talents and dedication to their field of study. Eva Abeyta, the County Science Fair Director, expressed her pride in the students’ achievements.

Two standout participants from Los Alamos Public Schools, Helena Welch and Tate Plohr, qualified to represent their school at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, CA in May. This is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to their hard work and dedication.

The Junior Division saw several students from Los Alamos Public Schools receive awards in various categories such as Animal Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, and Systems & Software. In addition to these awards, special recognition was given to outstanding students for their achievements.

In the Senior Division, Los Alamos High School received accolades in Mathematics and Physics & Astronomy categories. Moreover, students were recognized for their contributions towards Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Reduction.

Overall, the students from Los Alamos Public Schools performed exceptionally well at the 2024 New Mexico State Science and Engineering Fair. Their talent and commitment to scientific inquiry should be celebrated. Congratulations to all who participated and received recognition for their hard work!
