NY Waterpark Under Investigation by Health Department Following Near Drowning

An incident over the weekend at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark in Queensbury, New York has prompted an investigation by the New York State Department of Health. A 5-year-old girl from Hudson was discovered unresponsive in the water at the waterpark and was quickly transported to an Albany hospital by Life Net. The young girl is currently in stable condition.

Monica Pomeroy, a public information officer with the state health department, confirmed via email that this specific incident is being looked into by the department’s Glens Falls District Office. As the investigation is ongoing, the department refrained from providing further comments at this time.

Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark opened its doors in 2006 and is owned by Six Flags. In response to the emergency, West Glens Falls EMS, Queensbury Central Fire, and the New York State Police all assisted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The collaboration between these entities helped expedite the response to the incident at the waterpark.
