Health Ministry Calls for Immediate Ban on E-Cigarettes

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed pilot management of e-cigarettes, while the Ministry of Health advocates for a complete ban on this product. Minister Dao Hong Lan expressed concerns about the potential risks of e-cigarettes, particularly for young people, and emphasized the need for strict regulations to protect public health.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s proposal aims to address illegal trade issues related to e-cigarettes. However, Minister Lan reiterated the Ministry of Health’s stance on banning e-cigarettes due to their harmful effects on health. The Ministry of Health is currently studying a resolution to ban the production, sales, import, and advertising of electronic cigarettes and similar products in order to maintain consistency with existing laws and regulations.

During an explanation session organized by the Social Committee, Minister Lan highlighted the dangers associated with e-cigarettes and emphasized the importance of consistent regulation. Other delegates expressed skepticism towards the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s proposal to legalize e-cigarettes, as they questioned its potential negative impact on public health and the economy. Concerns were raised about the addictive nature of e-cigarettes as well as their potential to lead young people towards increased tobacco use.

According to studies conducted by the Ministry of Health, it was found that e-cigarettes contain various chemicals and flavorings but do not fall under the definition of traditional tobacco products. The rise in popularity among young people has prompted calls for stricter regulations and a complete ban on their production and sale. The Ministry is currently working on amending existing laws in order to address growing concerns surrounding e-cigarettes and their impact on public health.
