DuPage County Board has approved a new five-year strategic plan

The DuPage County Board has just passed a strategic plan that outlines its goals and aspirations for the future. Led by the Strategic Planning Committee, with Sadia Covert at its helm, the committee decided to focus on community services and economic development as a way to promote local businesses, workforce development and create outreach programs for families, the elderly and individuals with disabilities.

County Board Chair Deborah Conroy stressed the importance of this plan in ensuring that DuPage County remains prosperous and thriving for years to come. The plan’s goals are not set in stone, but rather serve as guiding principles for legislation moving forward. These priorities include community well-being, fiscal responsibility, a thriving economy, a safe community, environmental stewardship and mobility.

Smaller objectives within the plan have already garnered increased attention. For instance, reducing the county’s landfill presence and expanding bike and pedestrian pathways are key areas of focus. Recent projects like the Solid Waste Management Plan and the DuPage County Trails Plan are paving the way for more manageable improvements in these areas. The County engaged with the community through forums, interviews and surveys to gather input and support to ensure that the plan reflects shared values and visions.

In summary, this strategic plan serves as a blueprint for guiding legislation in DuPage County while focusing on community services, economic development and sustainability. With input from both the board and community members this plan will help shape a bright future for all residents of DuPage County.
