Fullerton and Becerra Lead Compound Qualifying in Shanghai 2024

Ella Gibson held the 715-point world record in archery competition, but Becerra fell short of breaking it. She managed to score 713 points, which was a personal best for her in international competition. Despite not setting a new record, she was pleased with her performance, especially since most of her shots were very close to the center.

Qualifying in the top spot was a major goal for Becerra and she achieved it by focusing on staying in her zone and not getting too caught up in the score. She also noted that her shots that weren’t perfect were still very close to the center, which added to her satisfaction with her performance.

The top eight qualifiers in the competition receive bonus points towards the Hyundai Archery World Cup Ranking. Some of Becerra’s main competitors include Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Sara Lopez, and Aditi Swami. Aditi Swami qualified in eighth place with 704 points.

There was no top-64 cut in the compound women’s competition, while Jesse Sut won a shoot-off to secure the last spot in the bracket for the compound men’s event. Korea qualified in the top spot for both compound men’s and mixed team events, while India took pole position in compound women’s team event.

In Shanghai, competition continues with compound team eliminations scheduled for morning followed by recurve qualifying taking place later that afternoon.
