In an incredible display of athleticism, Sweden’s Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis kicked off his outdoor season at the Xiamen Diamond League meeting by breaking his own pole vault world record. At just 24 years old, the athlete holds the titles of Olympic, two-time world, and European champion.

Duplantis started the competition at 5.62m and effortlessly cleared heights of 5.82m and 6.00m before achieving the new world record of 6.24 meters on his first attempt at the Egret Stadium. This marked his eighth world record in the pole vault discipline, further solidifying his position as one of the top athletes in this event.

Despite Duplantis’ impressive performance, American Sam Hendricks finished in second place with a best jump of 5.82m, followed by China’s Bokai Huang in third with a jump of 5.72m. It was a thrilling start to the outdoor season for Duplantis, who continues to assert himself as one of the top athletes in this field.

Overall, it was a remarkable start to the season for Duplantis, who has proven time and time again that he is a force to be reckoned with in the pole vault event. With eight world records under his belt already and still young, there is no doubt that he will continue to push himself to even greater heights in the future.
