Man Attempts to Break World Record by Drinking at 120 Bars in 24 Hours

69-year-old retiree David Clarkson made history by visiting 120 pubs in just 24 hours. This achievement earned him a spot in the Guinness World Record books. Originally from Britain, Clarkson has been living in Australia for over four decades. He embarked on this record-breaking attempt by starting at the Captain Cook Hotel in Sydney.

Over the next day, Clarkson walked to 119 more establishments, ordering a drink at each one. To ensure the validity of his record, Guinness World Records Adjudicator Pete Fairbairn joined him for the beginning and end of his journey. Throughout the middle portion of his pub crawl, other witnesses accompanied Clarkson to collect evidence for Fairbairn to review later.

At the culmination of his attempt, Clarkson found himself at the Sussex Garden Bar, where Fairbairn officially certified his record. This impressive feat allowed Clarkson to take the title from Australians Harry Kooros and Jake Loiterton, who had previously visited 99 pubs in 24 hours. Overall, Clarkson’s determination and perseverance allowed him to make history in a unique and memorable way.
