On Friday, the brackets for district baseball and boys volleyball playoffs will be announced, with the Baseball Playoff Pairing Show airing at noon on Trib HSSN. As we approach these exciting events, let’s take a closer look at some of the teams vying for postseason spots in their respective sections.

In Section 1-3A of the WPIAL Class 3A playoff field, Upper St. Clair has already secured a berth. However, if they lose out on Thursday and Bethel Park manages to upset Canon-McMillan in an upset game, both teams could earn postseason spots. This adds an extra layer of excitement to what is already shaping up to be a thrilling race for a spot in the playoffs.

Derry has an opportunity to clinch a four-way tie for second place in Section 2-2A with a win on Thursday afternoon. If they succeed in this task, they would secure a spot in the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs alongside Greensburg Central Catholic, Trinity High School and Waynesburg Central High School. This is definitely a game that fans won’t want to miss!

In boys volleyball, North Allegheny and Shaler are currently tied for first place in Section 2-3A with just one match left to play on Thursday night against each other. Whoever emerges victorious from this crucial game will secure an outright section title and automatically qualify for the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs without needing to participate in any additional games or tiebreakers. It’s sure to be an intense battle between two talented teams!

Meanwhile, Penn-Trafford can also secure an outright section title with just one more win on Thursday night against Greensburg Central Catholic in Section 3-3A of the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs. If they do so successfully
