The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to be a thrilling event as the top 10 women’s cricket teams from around the world compete for the title. Hosted in Bangladesh, this tournament promises to be an intense battle between some of the best female cricketers on the planet.
The qualifiers for this tournament will emerge from the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The top two teams will secure the final spots in the main event, joining India and Pakistan in Group A alongside six-time winners Australia, New Zealand, and Qualifier 1. Group B consists of hosts Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Qualifier 2.
The Group A matches will take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet while Group B matches will be held at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The top two teams from each group will advance to semi-finals scheduled for May 17 and 18 with India taking on New Zealand in one of them. The final match is set to be held at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium on October 20th.
India has had a strong presence in previous editions of this tournament but have yet to win it outrightly. In 2024 they face tough competition from Australia and England among others but are determined to claim their first ever Women’s T20 World Cup victory.
