Snow and Slippery Conditions in Bavaria, with Thunderstorms and Rain

On Thursday, wintry weather is expected to hit parts of Bavaria with snow and slippery conditions, while thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecasted elsewhere. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts snow and sleet in the mountains and higher lowlands, with temperatures ranging between four and twelve degrees across the region. The cool sea air from the north will bring these wintry conditions.

The snow and rain showers are likely to continue into Friday night, with the Alps expecting five to ten centimeters of fresh snow above 1000 meters. The rest of Bavaria is expected to see some relaxation in weather conditions. Friday will start with slippery conditions and temperatures between minus two and plus four degrees. Rain is expected to spread from the northwest during the day, with the snowfall limit at 600 to 800 meters.

Saturday night also brings wet conditions, with snow and sleet expected in the mountains and higher lowlands. The weekend will continue to be changeable and cool, with a mix of snow, slippery conditions, thunderstorms, prolonged rain, and strong winds predicted. On Thursday night, sleet led to four accidents on Autobahn 9 near Ingolstadt, with drivers losing control of their vehicles due to improper speed. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but property damage is estimated at around 60
