Eliot Wolf: Patriots Welcoming Trade Offers in Every Round of 2024 NFL Draft

Wolf & Co. will likely stay put and select a quarterback at No. 3 to begin a new chapter, according to most prognosticators. The team’s GM emphasized that this year is unique with multiple QB prospects potentially going in the top 5. He expressed comfort in picking one of the top three or four quarterbacks with their first pick. Additionally, he mentioned that the Patriots do not need to select a QB with their initial choice.

Wolf dismissed concerns that the Patriots’ roster may not be ready to support a rookie QB after Bill Belichick’s long tenure. He highlighted the team’s solid offensive line, recent re-signings, incoming rookies, and talented skill players. Despite the wide receiver group being a weak spot, he emphasized that the team has a strong foundation in place and believes they can support a new quarterback.

The Patriots’ roster has raised questions, especially with the lack of a standout wide receiver. However, these concerns shouldn’t dictate whether a quarterback is drafted or not. The right pick will elevate the team, regardless of any perceived weaknesses. Waiting for the perfect scenario to draft a QB isn’t realistic as football teams aren’t created in ideal conditions.

If Wolf chooses a quarterback at No. 3, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him explore trading back on Day 2 to acquire more picks. Currently holding selections at No. 34 and 68, adding more draft capital could be beneficial for the team’s future
