A zebra that escaped from a vehicle on a highway in Washington state has finally been recaptured after almost a week, according to local emergency services. The transport carrying four zebras was traveling from Winlock, Washington, to Anaconda, Montana, on April 28 when the driver stopped along the highway to troubleshoot a problem with his trailer. When she checked everything again, the four animals took off at lightning speed.
The zebra named Shug managed to elude capture and ran off into the wilderness for days. Despite numerous attempts to capture it, Shug remained hidden until Friday evening when local animal rescue services decided to capture it with the help of volunteers. After several hours of searching, the capture was successful and Shug was brought back to safety after six days of wandering in the wilderness.
