Opposition ratifies diplomat Edmundo González Urrutia as presidential candidate instead of María Corina Machado, while Manuel Rosales withdraws from race

Venezuela’s opposition has officially confirmed Edmundo González Urrutia as the candidate representing disqualified leader Maria Corina Machado in the upcoming July 28 elections. President Nicolás Maduro will be seeking a third term in these elections. Gonzalez Urrutia, who was initially registered as a provisional candidate for the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), now has his final nomination approved by the coalition.
