Vanessa, terminally ill with cancer, embarks on her final journey to Japan

Vanessa, a 32-year-old former competitive swimmer, has faced more challenges in her young life than most. After surviving lymphatic cancer at 23, she was diagnosed with leukemia and stage 3 lung cancer, with metastases in the spine and two large tumors in her head. Her body is now riddled with cancer, and doctors give her a life expectancy of six months to a year. Despite this grim prognosis, Vanessa remains positive and full of joy, cherishing every moment she has.

Living in a tiny house by a lake with her boyfriend Sebastian, a police officer, Vanessa is determined to make the most of her remaining time. She recently shaved her head due to the effects of chemotherapy and radiation, but still radiates happiness and gratitude for life. While she experiences fatigue and difficulty focusing due to her brain tumor, Vanessa refuses to let her illness dim her spirits.

Planning a final trip with Sebastian, Vanessa dreams of traveling along the Silk Road from Europe to Japan in a motorhome. They are raising funds for their “Expedition Hope” through GoFundMe, hoping to make their dream a reality. Vanessa is aware that she may not beat cancer, but she remains optimistic about living longer than expected with the disease.
