118 Utah Student-Athletes from 20 Sports Participate in University Commencement

The University of Utah is set to honor 118 current and former student-athletes with their degrees during its 155th general commencement on Thursday, May 2. This ceremony recognizes graduates from Fall 2023 and Spring and Summer 2024 who have earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The event can be viewed live on livestream at 6 p.m. MT on Thursday at www.utah.edu/live. The student-athletes graduating represent a diverse range of sports, including baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, cross country and track & field, football, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, skiing, soccer, softball, men’s swimming & diving, women’s swimming & diving, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, beach volleyball and volleyball.

It is worth noting that the University of Utah has an exceptional record when it comes to student-athlete graduation rates. In the most recent NCAA GSR Report released in December 2023, Utah’s score stood at a remarkable 94%, marking the sixth consecutive year that the university has achieved a figure of 93% or higher. This places Utah second in the Pac-12 behind Stanford.

This achievement is a testament to the commitment to excellence both academically and athletically at the University of Utah. It shows that students can excel in both areas while pursuing their passions and achieving their goals. The graduates should be proud of their accomplishments and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
