Commissioners approve Uptown business’s request for ADA-compliant ramp

On Wednesday night, the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved a permit for an Uptown business to build a ramp to assist customers with disabilities. The council unanimously approved Jamie Decker’s request after almost two hours of public comment.

The commissioners were deeply moved by the emotional testimony from over 20 community members who spoke about the importance of the ramp for individuals with disabilities. Many people shared their stories and experiences, which influenced the commissioners’ decision to approve the permit for the ramp.

Jamie Decker had initially tried to secure approval for the ramp in June of last year, but her request was repeatedly denied due to concerns about liability and encroachment onto a public right-of-way. After much persistence, Decker’s efforts finally paid off with the approval from the Council of Commissioners. The ramp will now be constructed to improve accessibility for customers with disabilities at Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness on Granite Street.
