Science Teacher from Hauppauge High School Honored with STEM Star Award

Dennis Petercsak, a science teacher at Hauppauge High School for 15 years, has been honored with the 2024 STEM Star Teacher Award by the Long Island STEM Education Leadership Association. One of Petercsak’s notable achievements is the development of a project-based half-year physics course that focuses on big ideas rather than mathematical equations, making it more accessible to a wider range of students. Additionally, Petercsak has been an adviser to the Science Olympiad Team at Hauppauge High School for the past five years, helping them achieve great success in regional and state competitions.
