Čubelić Arrested for Traffic Violation, Uskok Already Planning Arrest

Last month, the investigation into the attempted murder of Joseph and Caronubelia Čube (37) in Skalice, Split was taken over by authorities. The shooting took place on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, around 3:50 p.m., in the neighborhood of Filip Zavadlav. The suspects in the case include Nenad Petrak (44), an alleged drug lord currently in a Split prison, as well as his associates Jerko Radić (45), Ante Varnica (43), and Jerkov nećak Alen Radić (22). Recently, Čuba has also been arrested, adding to the list of individuals implicated in the crime.

Čuba is no stranger to run-ins with the Split police for various offenses. However, he now faces accusations of leading another drug clan in Split. According to reports, Čuba was arrested due to a traffic violation that involved two unknown individuals blocking the passage of a vehicle carrying five people on Domovinsko rata Street. They proceeded to physically confront the occupants of the vehicle, leading to a chain of events that ended with Čuba’s arrest. However, it was later revealed that Čuba was attacking a friend, not one of the suspects in the case.

Further investigations have linked Čuba to a criminal organization involved in drug smuggling and trafficking, positioning him as a potential leader in the illicit trade. Along with Čuba, two other individuals were arrested while one remains at large. The case has revealed intricate connections between the individuals involved, indicating a complex network of criminal activities.

The motives behind the shooting remain under scrutiny, with speculations ranging from personal disputes to business interests. As more details emerge from this investigation into organized crime activities in Split’s criminal underworld are brought to light.

The arrest of Čuba and his associates marks a significant development in this case and could be seen as an unraveling of drug-related activities in this region. This incident serves as a stark reminder of how organized crime poses dangers within our community and how effectively we need to combat these threats through law enforcement efforts.
