Unauthorized Gmail Access Flaw in Google TV Operating System Exposed by Content Creator

Google has recently revealed a security flaw in the Android TV operating system that allowed unauthorized access to users’ Gmail accounts without requiring a password or access PIN. This vulnerability was exposed by content creator Cameron Gray in a video earlier this year, demonstrating how accessing a Google account through the system provided access to Gmail and user information.

Gray used the TV Bro web browser to access a Google Chrome APK on Android TV, highlighting the potential for malicious agents to exploit this flaw. However, Google has acknowledged this issue after being alerted by US Senator Ron Wyden and is actively working on a solution. The company notes that most Google TV devices with the latest software updates no longer allow unauthorized access to Google services, and it is working on fixing this for remaining devices.
