Testimony from Daniels’ ex-lawyer in criminal case involving Trump

A judge in New York has denied former President Donald Trump’s request to halt the criminal trial over allegations that he falsified business records. The trial is related to an alleged affair with Stormy Daniels in 2006.

During the trial, lawyer Keith Davidson, who worked for both Daniels and another woman who claims to have had an affair with Trump in 2006, testified as a witness. He was questioned about negotiations that led to an agreement for Trump’s lawyer at the time, Michael Cohen, to make a cash payment to Daniels.

Davidson mentioned the close affiliation between Trump and the former editor of the National Enquirer, David Pecker. He also testified that the tabloid’s parent company bought another woman’s story to prevent it from being publicized during the 2016 presidential campaign.

On Thursday, the trial resumed with Trump being fined $9,000 for violating a gag order imposed by the judge. The president argued that the gag order violated his constitutional rights as he left the courtroom.

The case continues and more testimony and evidence are expected to be presented.
