Congressman Cohen reveals a $1.4 Million Grant awarded to Tri-State Community Health Center

In a recent announcement, Congressman Steve Cohen of TN-9 revealed that Tri-State Community Health Center will be receiving a grant of $1,416,200 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funding is critical for the health center, which serves many individuals in Memphis who do not have access to affordable health insurance due to Tennessee’s failure to expand its Medicaid program, TennCare.

Congressman Cohen emphasized the importance of this funding in his statement, highlighting the strain that lack of Medicaid expansion puts on financially burdened hospitals that are left to provide high levels of uncompensated care to uninsured individuals. He also pointed out how this prevents Tennesseans from fully benefiting from a federal program that they already contribute to through their tax dollars.

Tri-State Community Health Center has been working tirelessly to provide much-needed healthcare services to the underserved population in Memphis, and Congressman Cohen commended them for their important work. He expressed his gratitude that they were awarded these funds to support their services and reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare access for all residents in his district and beyond.

The grant will enable Tri-State Community Health Center to continue its efforts in providing affordable and quality healthcare to those who need it most. With this funding, the health center can expand its reach and impact in the community, ensuring that more individuals have access to necessary medical care.
