Funding opportunities to enhance Indiana’s recycling industry are now accessible.

The Indiana Recycling Market Development Program (RMDP) is currently offering grant proposals ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 to fund recycling projects. This opportunity is open to businesses, local governments, solid waste management districts, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations in Indiana. The projects must showcase sustainability and an understanding of the changing economy for recyclers while highlighting how grant money can help boost recycling in the state by expanding markets, manufacturing capacity, and creating jobs.

Proposals must be submitted by June 13 and should demonstrate economic impact, increased public awareness through outreach and education efforts, and result in at least one of the following outcomes: an increase in the amount of recyclable material collected or used, a reduction in municipal solid waste shipped for final disposal, or improved partnerships with communities. Grants are administered through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), with funding decisions being made in the fall.

Those interested in applying for the grant can find more information on the IDEM Facebook page or by contacting 800-988-7901 or emailing RMDPGrants@idem.IN.gov. By utilizing this funding opportunity, organizations can make a significant impact on recycling efforts in Indiana.
