Southern China road collapse results in 48 dead and 30 injured

A tragic accident occurred in southern China, where a section of the Meizhou-Dabu highway collapsed. The incident took place at around 02:10 local time and affected an area of approximately 184.3 square meters. This led to the death of 48 individuals and injuries to 30 others. Fortunately, no large vehicles or dangerous chemicals were involved in the accident, as stated by local officials.

Rescue efforts are currently underway, with over 500 people working tirelessly to free all trapped vehicles and recover the bodies of the victims. The 30 injured individuals have been taken to nearby hospitals and are currently out of danger. However, the causes of the collapse are still under investigation, with suspicions that heavy rains in the region may have played a role.

This latest accident is just one of several infrastructure-related incidents that have occurred in China in recent months. In December, three people died and four were injured when a section of a highway collapsed in Inner Mongolia. The Chinese authorities are working diligently to investigate the cause of this latest collapse and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
