On Tuesday, U.S. News and World Report released the 2024 edition of its “Best High Schools” ranking, featuring several San Diego-area schools. Leading the way in the local rankings was Canyon Crest Academy in the San Dieguito Union High School District, which came in at No. 15 in California and No. 140 nationwide. The Preuss School UCSD and Del Norte High School followed closely behind, ranking at No. 2 and No. 3 in the county, respectively.

The complete list of the top 10 public high schools in San Diego includes Westview High School, Mt. Everest Academy, Scripps Ranch High School, La Jolla High School, Sage Creek High School, River Valley Charter, and Del Lago Academy – Campus of Applied Science. U.S. News and World Report partnered with nonprofit research firm RTI International to create the rankings, evaluating nearly 25,000 high schools across the country based on factors like graduation rates, standardized testing outcomes, and college-level exam performance.
