Top 100 players, including Tiger Woods, named in PGA Championship field

The 106th PGA Championship at Valhalla is set to feature a unique lineup of golfers, including Tiger Woods and the world’s top 103 ranked golfers. Woods, a 15-time major winner, has been dealing with severe leg injuries since a car crash in 2021 but has shown signs of improvement with a 60th place finish in the Masters. He intends to play more tournaments leading up to the US and British Opens.

The PGA field comprises 33 major winners, with 16 of them being former PGA Championship winners. Two spots in the 156-player field are still open for winners of this week’s PGA Tour events. The lineup also includes defending champion Brooks Koepka, who is one of 16 players from the LIV Golf League participating in the tournament.

Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler, who won the Masters last month, will also be competing in the championship. Scheffler has decided to skip this week’s PGA Tour event to be with his wife as they await the birth of their child. Other notable players in the field include Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Brooks Koepka, and Phil Mickelson.

Last year’s LIV season champion Talor Gooch will be making his fifth consecutive appearance at the PGA Championship. The field also includes 21 club professionals and 20 qualifiers. Michael Block, who finished 15th last year, will also be returning to compete in this year’s championship at Valhalla.

This championship promises to be one of excitement and challenges for all participants as they compete for the coveted title of PGA Champion at Valhalla Golf Club.
