Nikola Jokic: The Best in the World, Anthony Edwards Sets Sights on Growth Milestones

Basketball fans may soon be raving about the upcoming 2024 playoff series featuring two of the world’s best players, Nikola Jokic and Anthony Edwards. While Edwards has proven himself as a top player, he still needs to demonstrate that he belongs in the same category as Jokic, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic. In front of a national audience, he may finally take those final steps to solidify his status.

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch commended Edwards on his impressive performance during the highest level he’s ever played. He highlighted how Edwards excelled in making the right plays, staying aggressive, and orchestrating the game even under intense defensive pressure. Finch believes that Edwards’ ability to sustain this level of play during the playoffs demonstrates high-level basketball.

Despite Edwards’ outstanding performance, Finch still considers Jokic as the best player in the game. He believes that Jokic’s calm demeanor, ability to control the pace of the game, and skill in creating opportunities for himself and teammates make him unbeatable. However, Finch understands that Nuggets led by Jokic will not be intimidated by their deficit and will remain a formidable opponent.

In Game 1 of the series, Jokic scored 32 points but Timberwolves made a deliberate effort to disrupt his rhythm and make him uncomfortable on court. Going forward Finch emphasized on imposing physicality on Jokic to limit his impact on the game. This aggressive defensive approach will be crucial for Timberwolves to contain Jokic and secure another victory in the series.

Game 2 is scheduled for Monday at 8:30 pm in Denver where both teams will continue their battle between two of NBA’s best players promising an exciting matchup ahead.
