Search continues for missing autistic boy (6) in Germany with drones, mounted police, and a team of 1200 volunteers.

A week-long search for 6-year-old Arian, who has autism and disappeared from his parents’ home in Germany, came to a halt on Sunday. Around 1,200 people participated in the search in Bremervörde, but now most of the forces will take a break, according to a police spokeswoman.

On Sunday morning, a coordinated human chain of about 800 people was formed, spanning 1,500 meters and systematically searching every corner. Footprints believed to be Arian’s were found in the area, but it was later discovered that they belonged to someone else.

The search teams have been tirelessly combing through impassable terrain for days. The operational strategy of the search has been coordinated with an autism expert and volunteers have been inspecting bins, sheds, and garages while searchlights have been installed in the area.

Police efforts include officers on horses inspecting canals and drones searching the area while avoiding making noise in the hopes that Arian will come out of hiding. Various methods have been employed to attract Arian such as playing loud music and setting off fireworks. Despite extensive searches covering a wide area including the river Oste there is no evidence of foul play or a possible wolf attack. The search continues as authorities strive to locate Arian safely.
